A ceremony was held at the European Parliament’s plenary chamber in Strasbourg on Monday night in which the around 80 MEPs leaving the Parliament were presented with a commemorative medal engraved with their name.

In all, there are three Maltese MEPs who served in the legislature ending Tuesday morning but will not be part of the new European Parliament. Alfred Sant, Josianne Cutajar, and Cyrus Engerer – all three members of the Maltese delegation in the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) – chose not to run for the 8^th June European election.

Josianne Cutajar and Cyrus Engerer were present for the ceremony.
