Survey results are out.

The Nationalist Party’s leadership shake-up has failed to deliver the expected surge in support, with the latest survey by Professor Vincent Marmara showing Labour holding a 25,000-vote lead.

The change in leader within the Nationalist Party has not brought the promised impetus, leaving many to question how wise it was for Bernard Grech to be forced to resign on the basis of surveys that may even have been doctored.

The latest surveys, based on a sample of 1,200 people and conducted by Professor Vincent Marmara, put Labour at 51.7% and the PN at 43.2%. This translates into a difference of 25,000 votes.

The survey was carried out between 25 September and 1 October 2025, just days ahead of the PN’s debacle in Parliament on the proposed constitutional amendments.

The percentage difference between the parties is also reflected in the leaders’ trust ratings, with Prime Minister Robert Abela leading with 42.5% compared to Borg’s 34.4%.

A key determining factor that usually sways voters is economic performance and satisfaction with public services. On this front, the latest Eurobarometer flash on taxation and public services shows the Maltese among the happiest in Europe, with almost half of the population giving their thumbs up, in stark contrast to the EU average of 26%.

The Maltese population wants growth, stability, and peace of mind. Labour is guaranteeing continuity, whereas the PN remains in a state of chaos that will not be resolved by a superficial makeover.
