What Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta delivered in 2025 and what’s next in 2026

Let’s be honest, when people talk about EU funds in Malta, the first things that usually come to mind are the ‘big’ projects like roads, restoration and the regeneration of public spaces. Yet, there’s another side to EU funding that’s just as important, and sometimes even more impactful. Even if not always visible to the eye, this other side of impactful EU funding is usually felt in terms of lifestyle, connections and identity. Digitalisation, skills, innovation, and career opportunities are amongst these afore-mentioned result-oriented products of EU funding that help people and communities level up.

This is where Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta comes in.

In 2025, Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta continued to strengthen its role as a national point of reference, not just for funding, but also for guidance, clarity, and trust. The goal was not simply to ‘be active’, but to be recognisable and reliable: a place people can turn to when they want to understand what the EU is offering, and how to actually access it.

They say talk is cheap… granted, but on the other end, numbers do not lie.

Throughout 2025, Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta handled thousands of information requests, held hundreds of one-to-one meetings with potential beneficiaries, and supported the submission of over a hundred EU funding applications. Behind every request and meeting is a person, an organisation, or a community with an idea and Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta’s work helped turn many of those ideas or dreams into real proposals ready for funding.

But Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta’s impact in 2025 was not only measured in terms of applications for EU funding.

It was also about being out there.

The agency took part in national fairs, exhibitions, and public events. It delivered information sessions and outreach initiatives, all under one clear mission: to bring the EU closer to people, in a way that feels practical and relevant.

Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta also took steps to strengthen its identity and accessibility, namely its renewed entrance to its Valletta offices, designed to reflect the kind of service the agency stands for: open, welcoming, and ready to help.

This consistent work and commitment was also recognised nationally, with Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta being honoured with both a Public Service Award and the National Supporting Business Award.

For Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta, 2025 was also a year of growth. The creation of a dedicated Policy Unit marked an important step in ensuring that the Agency can support not only funding opportunities, but also clearer engagement with EU policy and initiatives.

One standout initiative was the publication of Gżejjer f’Kontinent – a collection of fictional stories by well-known Maltese authors exploring what it means to be Maltese within a wider European context. It is a reminder that Europe is not only about programmes and policies, but it is also about identity, inclusion, and conversation.

So, the million-dollar question arises … What’s next?

2026 marks Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta’s fifth anniversary, and the mission remains simple: focus is on building on the foundations already laid and keep bringing Europe closer to the public.

Awareness remains a challenge. People often recognise EU investment in infrastructure, but less so through digitalisation or other less visible areas that matter just as much. That gap is exactly what Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta will keep working to close.

The approach for 2026 will also be more youth-focused with stronger social media presence, more podcast-style content, and more short informative videos. The agency will also continue expanding outreach with students and youth organisations, creating spaces for discussion on themes like EU careers, EU policies and Europe’s role in our future.
