The Research and Innovation EXPO 2025 served as a showcase of Malta’s expanding research and innovation ecosystem. The event brought together researchers, students, and key stakeholders to explore more than 35 completed projects funded through Xjenza Malta, covering a wide range of thematic areas including the blue and green economy, sustainability, health and wellbeing, engineering, and ICT.

Xjenza Malta (Science Malta) is the government agency responsible for national R&D and space funding, as well as policy development and implementation in the fields of research, innovation, and space.

The event was opened by the Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation, Keith Azzopardi Tanti, who highlighted the importance of strengthening links between research, society, and the economy.

Research and innovation are key drivers of sustainable progress, and the EXPO reflected Malta’s commitment to empowering researchers, engaging young people, and translating knowledge into real-world impact.

The programme also featured a panel discussion on how innovative research can be effectively transformed into commercialisation and tangible social and economic benefits.
