€150 Million Medtech Investment Announced in Malta

A €150 million investment in Malta’s medtech sector has been announced during a press conference in Ħal Far, with a deal signed live between Vantive, Malta Enterprise and Indis Malta.
The signing was described as a clear signal of the trust international industry is placing in Malta’s workforce, its stability and its long term vision.
The project will see the construction of a 16,000 square metre manufacturing facility focused on therapies for vital organs, producing medical products used daily by patients worldwide, particularly in renal care.
The plant is expected to be completed by 2027 and fully operational by 2029, creating around 250 high quality careers in engineering and specialised fields.
Vantive said Malta was chosen for its strong manufacturing experience, skilled workforce and stable operating environment, noting the investment will strengthen its global production network.
Malta Enterprise and Indis Malta described the project as a milestone that strengthens Malta’s position as a hub for high value, knowledge driven industries, aligned with Vision 2050.
Economy Minister Silvio Schembri said the project is the largest new foreign direct investment in Malta’s history, the result of months of negotiations that began in early 2025 to secure a global leader in the medtech sector.
He said the investment reflects Malta’s credibility, resilience and expertise, and represents exactly the type of high value investment the country is targeting as it continues to strengthen its economy.
Schembri described the project as an investment in people, creating high quality careers, long term stability and real opportunities for families, while urging young people to pursue studies and upskill in science, engineering and emerging sectors so they can build their future in Malta.
He added that the country is positioning itself to be part of the future of healthcare, driven by innovation, research and advanced technology, ensuring that economic growth translates into a better quality of life.
Prime Minister Robert Abela said the investment was secured following early meetings with prospective investors in 2025, describing them as the catalyst that ensured the project was brought to Malta instead of elsewhere.
He said the agreement reflects the government’s clear direction under Vision 2050 and its electoral programme, focused on building a stronger, more resilient economy that delivers stability and long term opportunities for people.
Abela highlighted Malta’s stable economic and energy framework as key factors in attracting a company of this scale in a highly competitive global environment.
He said this investment is not just about economic growth, but about delivering on a clear promise to people, turning a vision into reality through determination, planning and sustained effort.
Abela added that what started as a dream has now become a concrete project that will create high quality careers, long term stability and real opportunities for the next generation.
He said Malta is proving it can compete internationally and attract the industries of the future, giving young people the confidence to build their careers at home and families the reassurance of a stable and secure future.
