Single individuals, widows, or separated or divorced persons on low incomes will reeceive SupplementaryAllowance

Families with children and recipients of supplementary assistance will receive payments totaling nearly €27 million this weekend, covering the third quarter of this year.

So far this year, these households have already received around €53 million across the first two payments, and it is estimated that by the end of the year total disbursements will reach nearly €110 million.

The largest portion of this quarter’s allocation, almost €20 million, will go toward the Children’s Allowance and an additional supplement, benefiting 42,400 families with nearly 63,000 children.

This marks the third payment under new parameters introduced in last year’s Budget, which restructured allowance rates based on household income levels classified as low to middle income.

As a result, payment rates have increased, with the highest rate rising by €417 to €2,330 per child annually. This means a family with two children eligible for the highest rate will receive €4,660 this year.

At the lower end of the scale, families will receive a minimum of about €1,100 per child annually, or €2,200 for two children.

Separately, more than 2,100 families with around 2,700 children with disabilities will receive the Disability Children’s Allowance for the same quarter, totaling €1.3 million.

Foster families caring for children up to the age of 21 will also receive payments, with annual support set at €6,760 per child, an increase of €520 compared to last year. This week’s quarterly payment amounts to €1,690 per child.

In addition, nearly 20,000 households, including couples, single persons, and other individuals, will share €5.4 million in enhanced Supplementary Assistance payments aimed at helping them cope with the cost of living.

The maximum weekly rates have increased to €27.30 for couples and €14.40 for single persons, depending on income levels.

Beneficiaries aged 65 and over are also receiving an increased annual grant of €250, up by €100, and it is now being paid to both spouses instead of one.
