A thriving economy underpins the successful launch of large-scale environmental initiatives, ensuring Malta’s continued investment in high-quality green spaces for public relaxation and enjoyment.

Following the exciting news of Manoel Island and White Rocks being repurposed as public parks, Prime Minister Robert Abela has unveiled plans to transform the historic site of Fort Campbell, situated in the Selmun area, into a family-friendly open space.

Affectionately known as Il-Fortizza ta’ Selmun, this site, now in a state of disrepair, once served as a crucial fortification during Malta’s British colonial era, constructed in the late 1930s and playing a strategic role during wartime.

Dr. Abela remarked that such ambitious projects are achievable due

to Malta’s robust economic health, a testament to our nation’s resilience as we prepare to exit the excessive deficit procedure ahead of schedule. While many European nations grapple with declining investments and financial instability, Malta’s economy continues to flourish, allowing the Government to allocate €9.3 billion in measures through next year’s Budget.
