Opposition can never have financial credibility – Clyde Caruana

Finance Minister says expect great results on Malta’s deficit ahead of Eurostat results out tomorrow

Addressing a Labour Party press conference earlier today, Energy Minister Miriam Dalli said that the Opposition is choosing to ignore the global impact on Malta, such as the global rising prices in fuel and electricity.

Dalli referred to the blunder by Opposition leader Alex Borg when he said that the Government fabricated the idea that Malta is facing a crisis because of the war

Dalli said families would have had to pay thousands of euros more each year for electricity, due to the rise in prices, hadn’t it been for government intervention To give a few examples from this legislature, since March 2020: up to today, a household with two adults has saved around €5,700, while a family of three, two adults and one child, has saved approximately €6,100. A family of four, consisting of two adults and two children, has saved about €6,400.

Similarly, businesses have also saved significant amounts, amounting to thousands, helping them remain competitive and sustain their operations.

Finance Minister Clyde Caruana has said that the Opposition can never have financial credibility.

Caruana said that Malta’s deficit is down ahead of tomorrow’s Eurostat publication of member states’ finances.

He said this goes to show that the government is on the right track.

Caruana said that this was a case which shows that certain work should be left to the experts to do.
