Magistrates Claire Stafrace Zammit and Brigitte Sultana have been appointed as judges of the superior courts by President Myriam Spiteri Debono on Monday afternoon.

The appointments were made during a formal ceremony held at the Grand Master’s Palace in Valletta, attended by Prime Minister Robert Abela, Justice Minister Jonathan Attard, Chief Justice Mark Chetcuti and State Advocate Chris Soler.

In her address, Judge Sultana spoke about her commitment to hard work and the values that guided her throughout her career. She said she has always believed in dedication, honesty and perseverance, and pledged to continue doing her utmost to ensure that justice is delivered within a reasonable time.

Judge Stafrace Zammit described the appointment as an honour, reflecting on the years of experience that shaped her career. She also affirmed her commitment to continue working with dedication, integrity and respect towards the law.

Both judges previously served as magistrates and were selected following a competitive process led by the Judicial Appointments Committee, after a call issued earlier this year attracted strong interest from within the legal profession.

With these appointments, Malta’s judiciary continues to be reinforced with experienced members of the legal profession, as the courts face increasing demands.
