The government is set to strengthen work-life balance measures through a series of new reforms, including expanded parental and paternity leave and greater flexibility in working arrangements.

The Prime Minister said that among the proposals is an extension of parental and paternity leave entitlements, are aimed at giving families more time and support during the early stages of parenthood.

Workers will also be granted a new right to request remote working arrangements from their employers. Companies that accept such requests will be eligible for a €1,000 incentive to invest in the necessary technology to facilitate flexible work.

In addition, the reforms will introduce wider flexible working options, including flexitime arrangements and the possibility of a compressed working week, allowing employees to complete their hours over fewer days.

The measures form part of a broader effort to modernise the labour market while improving quality of life and work-life balance for employees.
