Malta is set to welcome a new addition to its youth sports landscape with the launch of Inter Academy Malta, a project linked to Italian football club Inter.

The academy will be based at the Marsa Sports Complex and is expected to gradually expand its presence across the country, offering structured football training programmes for young players.

The initiative forms part of Inter’s wider international network, aimed at sharing the club’s football philosophy, methodology, and values with young athletes. Activities are set to begin this summer through training camps led by coaches from Milan, before moving into full seasonal operations from September.

The programme will cater for boys and girls aged between 5 and 14, with a focus not only on technical development but also on discipline, teamwork and personal growth—key elements that underpin modern youth training systems.

The launch of the academy further strengthens the existing ties between Malta and Inter, with the club already enjoying a strong following locally. The connection is reflected in a growing fan base, established supporter communities, and continued collaboration in the sporting sector.

Beyond its sporting dimension, the initiative is also expected to contribute to the development of grassroots football in Malta by providing young players with access to international-level coaching standards and structured training pathways.

Importantly, the project also reflects the broader national direction outlined in Malta Vision 2050, which places strong emphasis on sport and physical wellbeing as part of a wider commitment to improving quality of life and building more resilient communities.
