Malta’s young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow. They are living, growing, and shaping our country today. The government’s focus on their happiness and wellbeing is a clear investment in a stronger future for all.

The Government is making it increasingly clear how important students and young people are to the country. Young people are not only the future of Malta and Gozo, but they are also the present. Whether they are children, teenagers, or young adults, they are living in the here and now, and who they become will be greatly influenced by how they live today.

The level of happiness they experience goes beyond a simple feel-good factor. Happiness supports positive personal development, reduces anxiety, and is nurtured by hope, whether for a future career or a fulfilling family life. Students who are happy and satisfied are more likely to perform better academically, including showing improved attendance in their educational institutions.

Fully understanding the expectations of young people, the administration is placing visible value on what lies at the heart of their dreams. The broad range of their growing interests is not only acknowledged by the Labour Government but actively supported.

Opportunities for young people to engage in extracurricular activities have increased significantly in recent years. This progress cannot go unnoticed. Two key areas that have received dedicated investment, aiming to be inclusive regardless of social background, are sports – across all disciplines – and culture, in its broadest and richest sense.

Additionally, the Government’s emphasis on work-life balance allows parents to be more present for their families. This, too, is an investment in our country’s future.

By investing in the wellbeing and happiness of today’s youth, the country secures long-term benefits. Happiness and wellness are proven to support personal growth, enhance social connections, and create opportunities for young people to build strong relationships and friendships.
