Malta’s leading cybersecurity conference, CYBER ROOT 2025, is back with an impressive lineup of international experts and local professionals tackling the most pressing challenges shaping the future of digital security.

CYBER ROOT 2025 returns as Malta’s flagship cybersecurity conference, bringing together internationally renowned experts and leading local professionals to share insights, strategies, and real-world experiences shaping the future of cybersecurity.

The event, taking place on the 29th of October, will open with special interventions by Emanuel Darmanin, CEO of MITA, and Luca Tagliaretti, Executive Director of the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC), setting the tone for the day’s discussions. This will be followed by a fireside chat between Jonathan Cassar, MITA’s Chief Information Security Officer, and Matthew Agius Mamo, CEO of DILIGEX, offering an engaging and insightful start to the conference.

This year’s programme features a dynamic lineup of speakers addressing key themes in the sector. Global technology expert and bestselling author Mikko Hyppönen will explore the evolution of ransomware and the growing sophistication of cybercriminal networks. Holly Foxcroft, a leading advocate for diversity in cybersecurity, will discuss inclusive recruitment strategies to attract and retain diverse talent.

Cybersecurity analysts Zoe Tilsiter and Nicole Wong from Darktrace will examine emerging threats targeting critical sectors, highlighting how attackers exploit sector-specific vulnerabilities. Former MEP Josianne Cutajar will provide an overview of EU cybersecurity policies, focusing on infrastructure protection and cross-border collaboration.

Adding a practical perspective, Diane Abela Hardy, a seasoned CISO, will share leadership insights and strategies for building resilient security teams. The final keynote by Monica Verma, a thought leader in AI and cybersecurity, will address the intersection of artificial intelligence, trust, and governance, offering guidance for leaders navigating AI-driven transformation.

A major highlight of this year’s edition is the launch of the CYBER AWARDS, celebrating outstanding contributions to cybersecurity in Malta and within the National Cybersecurity Community.
