Malta will be allocating €330,000 in humanitarian assistance to Gaza this year through the Gaza Solidarity Fund, aiming to address the most urgent needs of the Palestinian population.

Support will include both direct financial assistance and more practical, material contributions.

From comments attributed to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Ian Borg, Malta’s efforts this year will focus primarily on water, sanitation, and hygiene-related needs. This initiative was taken following consultations with experts who have direct access on the ground at local level. At the same time, an assessment is currently underway to figure out which products will be delivered into Gaza.

The initiative is intended to support the most vulnerable sectors of the population, particularly women and children, and is expected to be implemented in collaboration with Maltese companies.

In November of last year, Malta committed to providing training support for Palestinian public officials and healthcare workers. Discussions are ongoing with the Institute for the Public Service and the Ministry of Health on the implementation of this commitment.

Malta is also committed to continue providing financial support to international organisations aiding Gaza.
