Morocco came from behind twice to defeat Haiti 4-2 and finish second in Group C. Haiti, already eliminated, made a strong start and took the lead inside the opening 10 minutes through an own goal by goalkeeper Yassine Bounou after pressure from Lenny Joseph.

Morocco equalised through Achraf Hakimi after a mistake from Haiti goalkeeper Johny Placide, but Haiti restored their advantage four minutes later when Wilson Isidor scored with an excellent long-range effort. Morocco responded before half-time as Ismael Saibari made it 2-2.

The match remained level until the 78th minute when Soufiane Rahimi scored from a corner. Gessime Yassine then added a fourth goal late on to secure the victory. Morocco progress to the round of 32 as Group C runners-up and will face the winners of Group F.

Switzerland secured first place in Group B with a 2-1 victory over Canada in Vancouver. After a quiet first half, Ruben Vargas opened the scoring just 40 seconds after the restart. Johan Manzambi doubled Switzerland’s lead 10 minutes later after taking advantage of defensive errors.

Substitute Promise David scored for Canada shortly after coming on, but the hosts could not find an equaliser. Switzerland advance as group winners, while Canada finish second and move on to the knockout stage.

Bosnia and Herzegovina strengthened their hopes of reaching the round of 32 as one of the best third-placed teams with a 3-1 win over Qatar. Kerim Alajbegovic gave Bosnia the lead with a long-range strike before an own goal extended their advantage.

Qatar reduced the deficit through Hassan Al Haidos and came close to equalising, but Bosnia regained control after the break. Ermin Mahmic scored the third goal to secure Bosnia’s second World Cup victory and keep their qualification hopes alive. Qatar are eliminated.

Mexico completed a perfect Group A campaign with a 3-0 win over the Czech Republic. After a goalless first half, Mateo Chavez, Julian Quinones and Alvaro Fidalgo all scored after the break to give the co-hosts their third consecutive victory.

The match also saw goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa make his sixth World Cup appearance, while 17-year-old Gilberto Mora became the youngest player to start a World Cup match since 2002. Mexico advance as Group A winners, while the Czech Republic are eliminated.

South Africa reached the World Cup knockout stage for the first time after defeating South Korea 1-0. Thapelo Maseko scored the only goal of the match in the 63rd minute to secure second place in Group A.

South Korea enjoyed more possession but struggled to create clear chances. The defeat leaves them waiting to see whether they can progress as one of the best third-placed teams.

Brazil finished top of Group C with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Scotland. Vinicius Junior opened the scoring after an early defensive mistake and later added a second goal before half-time. Matheus Cunha completed the scoring in the second half.

Scotland needed a positive result to guarantee qualification but were unable to recover after several defensive errors. Brazil advance as group winners, while Scotland must wait to learn whether their record is enough to secure a place among the best third-placed teams.
