Following works on Msida Creek that commenced just four months ago, the Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works, Chris Bonett, has announced that 20% of this significant project has now been completed. The work, which is divided into several phases, began in November 2024 and is progressing rapidly, with several stages already reaching an advanced stage.

Minister Bonett highlighted the progress made in recent months, emphasising that the extensive consultation and planning process undertaken prior to the project’s launch is now yielding results. He outlined various special arrangements and newly established routes designed to minimise disruption, ensuring that while the necessary infrastructure works are carried out, Msida begins to reap the benefits of the project with as little inconvenience as possible.

He expressed his gratitude to the workers of Infrastructure Malta and Transport Malta for their collaborative efforts, which are ensuring that the area remains accessible and secure for both motorists and users of alternative forms of transport. The Minister conveyed his satisfaction with the progress to date, adding that “visits like today demonstrate our commitment to delivering this project efficiently for the public good.”

Steve Ellul, Chief Executive of Infrastructure Malta, explained that work on the final two pillars, which will support the flyover linking Msida and Tal-Qroqq, is expected to commence in the coming days. Additionally, work is ongoing on a new bridge connecting the Msida seafront to the Pietà side. “The Msida Creek project represents a significant step towards improving Malta’s road network and coastal infrastructure,” concluded Mr Ellul.
