In a strategic move aimed at enhancing efficiency and strengthening the government’s commitment to key national sectors, the Prime Minister has announced the reassignment of several ministerial responsibilities.

Minister Owen Bonnici will take on a broader portfolio, as he assumes responsibility for the Lands Authority under his new role as Minister for Culture, Lands and Local Government. This restructuring seeks to better align the various needs of local councils with the preservation of the nation’s heritage and the effective management of land resources. The reshuffle will allow for a more integrated approach to governance in these crucial areas. Parliamentary Secretary Alison Zerafa Civelli will continue to support the Ministry in her current role, ensuring continuity in ongoing initiatives.

Additionally, Minister Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi will now be tasked with overseeing European Funds and the Implementation of the Electoral Programme. This important role will see him directly involved in the management of EU funds and the execution of the government’s electoral commitments, ensuring that Malta continues to benefit from European Union support while making good on its promises to the electorate.

Minister Byron Camilleri, who currently serves as Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment, will see an expanded remit with his assumption of responsibility for the National and Social Development Fund (NDSF). The NDSF plays a critical role in the social and economic development of the nation, and Minister Camilleri’s involvement will ensure a more cohesive approach to social welfare and national progress.

Finally, Parliamentary Secretary Andy Ellul will take on additional duties, now responsible for the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA).
