Minister Byron Camilleri has confirmed that a dedicated, specialised police unit will be in place by summer 2026. Designed specifically for nightlife conditions, the unit will focus on visibility, rapid response, and enforcement tailored to the area. Officers will be trained for the dynamics of nightlife policing and will operate alongside the existing CCTV network across Paceville and other localities.

Plans go beyond temporary enforcement, embedding a permanent policing layer suited to Paceville’s realities. Legal amendments are also being drafted to introduce on-the-spot fines for non-residents who break the law. Practical considerations underpin these fines: when individuals leave Malta within days, delayed court proceedings have limited impact, making prompt enforcement essential.

The Paceville unit forms part of a broader security strategy that delivered Malta’s lowest recorded crime rate in 2025. Community policing now covers every locality, while the Rapid Intervention Unit is being reinforced with 30 new armoured vehicles and body cameras are already operational. The Safer Communities, Smarter Policing strategy continues to set clear milestones through to 2030 across public safety, force legitimacy, and operational development.

Security measures also extend beyond enforcement. Every household will receive a fire blanket and a prevention booklet, reflecting a philosophy that places equal importance on family preparedness.

Anyone spending time in Paceville, whether at 18 or 48, can expect a visible, well-prepared police presence. For parents sending children out on weekends, it provides an additional layer of reassurance within a system strengthened consistently over the years.
