Seifert, the German supplier of thermal management products, will be expanding their operations in Malta, with an €8 million investment project that will transform the Maltese facility into the first certified carbon-neutral manufacturing facility.
Prime Minister Robert Abela announced this investment in a visit to the facility in Hal Far Industrial Estate, together with President and CEO Michael Seifert.
The Prime Minister said that this state-of-the-art project reflects the Government’s vision for the manufacturing sector, and he thanked the company for choosing Malta to reach its goal of becoming carbon neutral.
Seifert’s expansion is expected to create 100 new job opportunities.
PM Abela said that we can only reach the ambitious carbon-neutral target if we collectively make the necessary changes and shift how we live and work. “We cannot have a healthy economy if the environment is side-lined, and we cannot protect our environment if the economy is weak,” the Prime Minister insisted.
Seifert’s expansion is expected to create 100 new job opportunities.
He added that it is his belief that if Maltese companies find innovative solutions, they will greatly strengthen their position within the market.
Seifert’s achievement, he said, clearly shows that the government’s assistance to incentivise a move towards carbon neutral factories, together with the courageous investment into this green transition, is leading to new growth opportunities.

“The government is committed to supporting companies in their effort to reach their innovative objectives and operate through greener and more sustainable processes,” said the Prime Minister as he mentioned a list of measures in next year’s Budget that will help businesses.
PM Abela thanked the company for its resilience during the pandemic, and for holding on to its employees. He noted that Malta is one of the three EU member states where employment increased, and said that the Government will continue to invest in human capital – Malta’s best resource.
The COVID financial package was crucial – Seifert CEO
Speaking during the event, Seifert President and CEO Michael Seifert said that becoming carbon-neutral is not a marketing stunt, but a duty for the future generations. He announced that the other facilities in other parts of the world will follow suit.
He hailed the Maltese Government’s COVID financial package, which was crucial to keep operating and to retain their workforce. He ended with an appeal to Prime Minister Robert Abela to keep on working and helping businesses to flourish.
Present for the event were also Ministers Miriam Dalli and Silvio Schembri, German Ambassador to Malta Walter Haßmann and Malta Enterprise CEO Kurt Farrugia.
