Prime Minister meets energy sector representatives to maintain price stability for households, businesses

Prime Minister Robert Abela held a meeting with representatives from Malta’s energy sector to discuss ongoing measures aimed at ensuring energy security and price stability for households and businesses.

The meeting, which took place at the Delimara Power Station, was also attended by Miriam Dalli, Minister for the Environment, Energy and Public Cleanliness. Representatives from key entities including Enemalta, Interconnect Malta, IESC, and Enemed were present.
During the discussions, it was confirmed that the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development (MCESD) will convene on Friday.
Social partners and constituted bodies will be given a direct briefing on the country’s preparatory plan to address potential challenges in the energy sector.
Among the measures being implemented are financial support schemes to assist families with energy bills, hedging agreements with international banks, and energy storage plans.
These initiatives are intended to safeguard a stable energy supply while maintaining consistent pricing.
The technical meeting was held against the backdrop of ongoing international volatility in the energy sector.
Experts outlined how Malta has established a clear strategy, combining immediate actions with a long-term vision focused on supply security and price stability.
Prime Minister Abela noted that despite challenging and unpredictable global conditions, where many countries are facing supply shortages and rising energy prices, Malta has managed to maintain stable prices. He attributed this to timely decisions and strategic investments.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continue protecting families and businesses through policies that ensure energy security and economic stability.
