Prime Minister Robert Abela held a meeting with European Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law and Consumer Protection, Michael McGrath, at Castille, Valletta.

During the meeting, Dr Abela outlined the Government’s commitment to further strengthening the rule of law, building on a series of reforms implemented by the administration to enhance governance and reinforce Malta’s legal and institutional framework.

The Prime Minister highlighted one of the Government’s key priorities for its first 100 days in office: the establishment of a National Human Rights and Equality Commission. Dr Abela said this initiative would represent another important step forward in promoting equality and safeguarding fundamental rights.

Also present for the meeting were Minister for Justice, Research and Innovation Clifton Grima; Permanent Secretary within the Ministry for Justice, Research and Innovation Johan Galea; Head of Secretariat within the Office of the Prime Minister Colonel Mark Mallia; and the Prime Minister’s Adviser on European Affairs, Leandro Borg.
