The Labour Party continued to focus its campaign on building a country that backs people at every stage of life, from before you’re born, through work, family life, and even through tough moments.

At a Siggiewi event Prime Minister Robert Abela outlined a vision of new prosperity where economic success isn’t just about money, but also about time, security, and wellbeing. The economy is there to work for people, not the other way around.

To notice, is the extension of first time buyer measures for separated and divorced buyers. For families, the plan includes strong support from pregnancy onwards, paid leave for parents, childcare options, and real help when raising children. Parents would get more time with their kids, financial support when they need it most, and full backing when facing challenges like disability or medical treatment, even abroad.

Young people are a main focus. The proposals include no income tax for the first three years of full-time work, help to buy a first home, savings on loans, and financial support to turn dreams into reality. Education and self-improvement are very important, with higher stipends, Erasmus support, savings accounts for lifelong learning, and paid study leave for those who work and study.

Workers will also benefit from more flexibility, like remote work, flexitime, or compressed weeks. Businesses that support this would be rewarded, and small businesses would pay less tax so they can reinvest and grow.

There’s also strong support for workers, pensioners, and people on lower incomes, including yearly bonuses, higher allowances, and guarantees that pensions won’t be taxed.

Overall, the message is about stability, confidence, and direction. A clear plan, a strong economy, and a commitment to stand by people in good times and bad.

Health is an absolute priority when it comes to well being, and a Labour Government will devote all the required resources to ensure that the health services provided are the best possible ever. 

Prime Minister Abela concluded enthusiastically – you are Malta and your dreams are our project.

The event was also addressed by Alex Muscat and Jo Etienne Abela. Alex Muscat spoke of the importance of safeguarding Maltese traditions and how these are guaranteed only through a Labour Administration, he also continued to pour cold water on the PN Energy Plan which is riddled with inaccuracies and confusion. Jo Etienne Abela outlined an extensive list of health measures that will continue to improve wellbeing whilst celebrating how Malta will soon celebrate its 1,000th birth through IVF.
