Educators who are supported and empowered create better outcomes for every child. Education Minister Clifton Grima launched a consultation document placing educator wellbeing at the centre of Malta’s education strategy.

Focus group discussions with 778 educators, including school heads and deputy heads across Malta’s schools and educational centres, shaped 10 measures and 25 initiatives organised around three core pillars. Educators played a central role in defining the strategy.

Grima emphasised that Malta’s children succeed when the people teaching them are supported. Ensuring educators thrive is not a secondary concern but the foundation of all educational achievement.

Alignment with the National Education Strategy 2024 to 2030 and Malta Vision 2050 positions education transformation as a structural requirement for national development. Permanent Secretary Matthew Vella confirmed that the initiative meets a commitment from the launch of the National Education Strategy and connects with the ongoing Educators as Policy Makers framework.

Director General Mary Scicluna highlighted that educators offered professional insight, not just data, showing how they can continue to grow and deliver holistic education.

Submissions for the consultation remain open until 30 April through gov.mt.
