The Labour Party has announced that, after the party’s Electoral Commission recommended to the National Executive, on Monday, candidates for the roles of President, Vice-President, International Secretary, and Organisational Secretary, as well as 12 members of the National Executive, the following names have been approved by the National Executive:

President

Vice-President

International Secretary

Organising Secretary

The National Executive also approved the nominations of 37 candidates for the election of 12 Members of the National Executive.

It is only for nominations for posts within the PL’s administration and for ordinary members of the National Executive that the party’s statute stipulates the National Executive’s approval following a recommendation by the Electoral Commission. This procedure does not apply to leadership positions.

Voting to be extended

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission has also announced that, in agreement with the party’s Administration and National Executive, since there are a substantial number of candidates for the 12 ordinary member seats within the National Executive, it will be extending the voting period. Accordingly, voting for the confirmation of the two Deputy Leaders, the appointment of the party President and International Secretary, and the selection of the 12 ordinary members of the National Executive will be held as follows:

Friday 13 September

Labour National Centre in Ħamrun (8pm – 11pm) and Labour Centre in Sannat, Gozo (8pm – 11pm).

Saturday 14 September

Labour National Centre in Ħamrun (9am – 2pm) and Labour Centre in Sannat, Gozo (9am – 1pm)

Early voting will still take place on Saturday, 7 September from 9am to 12pm at the National Labour Centre in Ħamrun. Those who would like to participate in the early voting must send an email to [email protected] or enquire at the Labour National Centre in Ħamrun.
