It’s been a very hot summer indeed, and at the Journal we’re doing our very best to give you a well deserved break from the intense political content of the electoral campaign.

Today we’re making a small exception because we smell a ‘rat’…

Veteran and prominent journalist Noel Grima is claiming to have been kicked out from the Independent. This after what appears to have been relentless commitment from his side in supplying the said journal with material and long nights spent to save and keep the paper afloat.

And the break-up is rough enough for the journalist not to be even allowed to salute his readers one last time.

Nothing unheard of so far. In the sense that such situations, although never ideal, do happen from time to time, and not just in news rooms.

What caught our attention is that it seems that Grima is alluding that Alex Borg may have had a role in this. He asks ‘Can Noel, Miller, Steve and Andre deny there was pressure from Alex Borg to terminate my association’?
